CELEBRATION OF THE 150 YEARS OF THE ITALY'S UNITY - MILAN EXPO 2015
- BENEFICIAL INITIATIVES - THE MONUMENT GREENS: THE ARENA OF THE SUN TO ROCCABIANCA
A SYMBOL FOR VERDI

Bon Appetit with Giuseppe Verdi and Verdissime.com

From the Expo 2015 theme, Feeding the planet, energy for life, Verdissime.com, with the collaboration of the Piacenza’s Province, found the inspiration to create an appetizing project aimed at increasing the value of food as expression of culture and socialising vehicle. Principal subject is of course Giuseppe Verdi, a little from Piacenza, a little from Parma and a little from Milan. For this time M° Verdi puts aside music and reveals his recipes.
Verdissime.com beside a careful research on the ingredients on the courses recipes of Verdi’s age want to present and to set up a “Verdi”’s stand to offer to visitors the delicacies of the Piacenza’s territory, presenting them ready to taste or as a written recipe to be experience at home.
This research and preparation of specialities will be proposed by our Association to the Piacenza’s Hotel School, involving chefs with an international prestige, while, for wines to be served and the providing of “raw material” some local firms will be involved.

The idea originates and will develop on the basis of the dinner that Giuseppe Verdi ate on 20 January 1901 at the Grand Hôtel et de Milan. This is the menù: Julienne au crôte (vegetable soup), Truite grillée à la maître d’hôtel (grilled trout according to the chef’s mind), Aloyau de boeuf à la jardinière (beef tenderloin with picked vegetables), Pain de gibier-Asperges en branche (fowl bread with asparagus stems), Dindonneau à la broche (top round turkey), Glace aux framboises, Patisserie, Dessert (raspberry glace, pastries, dessert). The different courses which will be offered will be of interest to create some links with the couses of that time with the appropriate wines (punch or porto, champagne, common wines) based on the gastronomy treaty of 1868, The King of Cooks, written by Giovanni Nelli.
